# Using Roles

Learn how the Roles feature in the Source & Summit Digital Platform can save you time by applying global settings across your Ordo.

## **What is the Roles feature?**

The Roles feature allows you to apply specific text and music display settings across your entire Ordo based on your recipient’s particular needs. Instead of adjusting individual sections, simply select a Role to prepare a customized view before [sharing with others](/v1/docs/sharing-ordos).

### **Available Roles**

Choose the appropriate Role to apply a consistent view across your Ordo:

**Editor** - Full preparation view with your initial selections. **Cantor** - Applies melody-only settings for all music. **Choir Member** - Applies SATB settings for all music. **Accompanist** - Applies SATB and/or chord settings for all music. **Congregation** - Displays melody-only or text-only settings.

## **How to Access Roles**

1. [Create or open an Ordo](/v1/docs/how-to-create-an-ordo).
2. Customize your Ordo with music and text selections.
3. Choose a **Role** view in the top bar: **Choir Member, Accompanist,** or **Congregation**.
4. [Share your Ordo](/v1/docs/sharing-ordos) or [create a printable resource](/v1/docs/creating-booklets-and-music-packets).

## **Tips and best practices**

- When creating multiple resources with different views (for example, for a choir, accompanists, or congregation), toggle between Roles and create [separate Resources](/v1/docs/using-roles#tips-and-best-practices) for each group.
- When creating your Ordo, use Roles to apply changes across your entire Ordo rather than adjusting accompaniment settings on individual pieces.
